As living beings that we are, we need to improve and advance in order to make our lives easier. We have undergone great changes in the last century, such as developments in medicine, industry and specially in technology. However, we have forgotten one of the most important things in our lives, education.
Here I am going to show you two images comparing the education methods used in the past with the current ones.
Well, watching these images, most of you will see that there is hardly any difference between them two.
There are almost 100 years of difference between the first image an the second one and, as I said before, no evolution can be observed. The only difference is that in some classes modern technology is used, but referring to the educational method we cannot find any change.
We are forced to study a lot of subjects that in a near future will not be useful to us. In addition, we are not robots, so we aren't able to learn everything that teachers teach us. Nowadays, almost everyone has access to education. This means that millions of different students without the same thoughts and intelligence are put together in classrooms and forced to study the same things.
This is like teaching a fish to climb a tree. Is it useful for the fish to learn how to climb a tree? Not at all. For example, the fish is a student that wants to be a policeman, and he is forced to study chemistry. Is it going to be useful for his future job? Obviously not.
What I try to say with this is that a fair education would be the one that allowed a student to study the subjects he considers convenient to develop his future job.
Apart from that, the current educational system doesn't allow us to develop our imagination. This is because this system is based on exams and doesn't value the level of imagination and creativity of the students. Can you see it? This for lots of students is the difference between having a good day or having a bad one. I reckon doing exams is not a good way of checking if students have study or not. The main reason for this is that lots of students, including me, get really nervous when they take and exam and despite having studied a lot, can fail the exam.
I believe that something is wrong with our current educational system, and that maybe it could be changed by another one.
That's all, I hope you like it!!!

I agree with this article because it explains what most of the students think nowadays. This article has also made me realize how many changes education needs to improve itself and to become a good system for students to learn new and useful things
ReplyDeleteI totally agree because I think education needs to be changed. The way we learn things is not useful at all, because we just learn them to write them down on an exam and then we forget them, and the goal of studying is not to get a grade but to acquire the knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI really like this post because it talks about something that we aren't used to heard at all. Sometimes we are much more focus on the exams than in the fact of learning new things. This post has very good points of view and arguments about how technology, medicine and industry has improved a lot but education hasn't. Changing the educational system is the first step of having a better future for all students.
