Hi there, friends!
I have been in an exchange semester in Canada. So, here are some of my Canadian experiences as a Spanish student.
Canada is divided into 10 provinces. I went to a western province called Alberta. We used 2 flights to get there.
Everything started on the 1st of September. I was terrified but very excited for this new experience. We left Madrid in an 8 hours flight to Toronto where we cached our second flight to Calgary.
Everything was different. The language, the houses, the culture and even the people. I went to a city called Cochrane. Cities and town were made up with the same small houses all lined in the streets. There were ponds, lakes and lots of roads and highways that crossed them.
The first day of school was the 3th. We took the yellow school bus that appears in all American films.
The first day was chaotic, lots of information and new things all at once. The second day was pretty difficult too. I went to my 3 courses by myself in very big and new high school.
Even though the first week wasn´t as good as I expected the rest of the semester was absolutely perfect.
I made new friends which made me enjoy more in the classes, I was closer to my exchange partner and had a lot of fun together. I visited lots of new landscapes and the way of living of a different culture.
We went to parties, we went sailing, we saw snow, we went on trek or treat during Halloween and we ate marshmallows cooked in the heater. I also had a lot of fun during my classes and went to some fieldtrips and school events. The way of living of Canada is different than the way of living in Spain. The people there is amazing. And teenagers of 16 and older could drive. I would never change anything of my exchange semester. There was something new and fun every day.
11th of November, everything was over. We were on the way to the airport. Everyone was sad. It was hard saying goodbye to Canada and all the fun we had.
Canada is one of the best experiences in my life and I highly recommend going to a foreign country for at least 3 months.
I think you were very brave taking this decision to leave your country for almost three months and I think we should all live this experience at least once in our lives.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be a wonderful experience. I wish I have the oportunity to go to a foreign country for at least three months, for example to Canada. As you have describe it, it looks such a great place.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a experience that everyone must live once in their lifes, because I believe that it helps you to be more independent, since you have to be months away from your country and without your family and friends.
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view ir could be a good experience to learn a lot of things about that culture and language. I want to travel to Canada and with your description I want even more to go there.
