Studying in Canada

Hi there, friends!

I have been in an exchange semester in Canada. So, here are some of my Canadian experiences as a Spanish student. Canada is divided into 10 provinces. I went to a western province called Alberta. We used 2 flights to get there. Everything started on the 1st of September. I was terrified but very excited for this new experience. We left Madrid in an 8 hours flight to Toronto where we cached our second flight to Calgary.

Everything was different. The language, the houses, the culture and even the people. I went to a city called Cochrane. Cities and town were made up with the same small houses all lined in the streets. There were ponds, lakes and lots of roads and highways that crossed them.

The first day of school was the 3th. We took the yellow school bus that appears in all American films. The first day was chaotic, lots of information and new things all at once. The second day was pretty difficult too. I went to my 3 courses by myself in very big and new high school.

Even though the first week wasn´t as good as I expected the rest of the semester was absolutely perfect. I made new friends which made me enjoy more in the classes, I was closer to my exchange partner and had a lot of fun together. I visited lots of new landscapes and the way of living of a different culture.

We went to parties, we went sailing, we saw snow, we went on trek or treat during Halloween and we ate marshmallows cooked in the heater. I also had a lot of fun during my classes and went to some fieldtrips and school events. The way of living of Canada is different than the way of living in Spain. The people there is amazing. And teenagers of 16 and older could drive. I would never change anything of my exchange semester. There was something new and fun every day.

11th of November, everything was over. We were on the way to the airport. Everyone was sad. It was hard saying goodbye to Canada and all the fun we had.

Canada is one of the best experiences in my life and I highly recommend going to a foreign country for at least 3 months.

  1. I think you were very brave taking this decision to leave your country for almost three months and I think we should all live this experience at least once in our lives.

  3. I think it is a experience that everyone must live once in their lifes, because I believe that it helps you to be more independent, since you have to be months away from your country and without your family and friends.

Just a "simple" doctor

COVID-19 has forced us to face situations for which we were not prepared. As a consequence of the current pandemic, we all have had to change our daily routines. We have changed from practically being with one another to being under a strict lockdown within just four walls. It is a difficult experience for humans. Although everything feels strange and it’s easy to be fearful, I’m learning new ways to be patient . However, the experience that my father is going through in his professional career is being much more difficult. For my father life has changed perhaps even more dramatically. As a doctor, he says he would have never imagined living something like this disease. He is doing his best,  both with the sick patients and along with us, his close family. Although he always tried not to bring home his work problems, unfortunately it has been quite the opposite. He tells me everything about his job. The family environment is now his great and unconditional support. ...

Quarantine for a dog

Hi! I am Toby, a little puppy. I live in a flat with my mother Kim. Kim is a great human, she plays with me whenever I ask her for and she gives me delicious food. Kim has been more stressed than usual in the last few days, I feel it in our home environment. She goes out fewer times and se takes me on very short walks. Oh, and she spends a lot of time doing her things with that object she calls “computer”. She says it is very important for our money. Actually, I don’t understand that. What does our money have to do with a computer? In my opinion, humans are so obsessed with money. Well, talking about our walks, I want to get out of our home more than ten minutes please! Our walks before were not so brief as now, and I met other dogs in the street, there were a lot of people, we went to unknown but amusing places for me… Now, we just go to the park around the buildings on the opposite sidewalk. The furthest, we have been, was to a little park wit...

Positive Thinking!

Hi friends!  In this post I want to talk about the current quarantine that we are living. Nowadays, there is a lot of information about COVID-19. As you know it is a virus that a large part of the population is suffering. However, I’m not going to talk about this. I’m going to talk about how we can enjoy the quarantine and its positive things. Positive Thinking   First of all, you have to be positive because if you aren’t, probably you are going to be very bored. To continue with, if you live with your family, you can play some games together. For instance, you can play football, watch TV, play some board game or set up a karaoke in your own house. These are only some ideas. If we all stay in our homes, we’re helping a lot of people. Firstly, we are giving less work to the people who work at hospitals. Then, probably we are saving our family and other people from being infected. We only have to think that every day is one day less of being in our homes. We al...
